Welcome to our school!
Our school is sited in a peaceful rural setting, near the village church. There are beautiful views over Oldbury, the surrounding countryside and across the River Severn. We are a small school with 61 pupils currently on roll.
Our intention is to provide a caring, stimulating and welcoming environment within which each child will build his or her self esteem, self confidence. These personal attributes enable the acquisition of skills, concepts and knowledge that will equip them for life.
Our latest Ofsted report stated that we are a good school. ‘The curriculum is outstanding because of the extremely carefully planned broad range of experiences provided.’
School ethos & values
Our vision statement is ‘Inspiring a love of learning’ this is supported by our Golden Rules which are: Together we: respect others – care, share & listen; respect ourselves – believing in ourselves; succeed – do our best; are honest – showing others they can trust us; are responsible – thinking about our actions, these Golden Rules also form the basis of our Oldbury School prayer. Our vision statement and Golden Rules were devised in conjunction with staff, governors, parents and children.
We are a Church of England Voluntary Controlled School and we have close links with our nearby church, St Arilda’s, with pupils attending Christian services there for Harvest, Easter, Christmas, Pentecost, St Arilda’s Day and end of term services. We also perform our whole school Christmas play at church for the community and our Summer play at the local village hall for the community.
We have attained a Healthy Schools Award, Arts Mark (Silver), Activemark and Eco – Schools Award (Bronze) – we are currently working towards our Silver award. We were also delighted to receive a Gold standard in the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) awards. We also hold a Silver Sing-Up award.
We have recently developed an Ethos Committee made up of members of staff, parents and Governors. The values we have chosen to particularly promote in our school are: creativity, peace, trust, forgiveness, thankfulness, friendship, truthfulness, generosity, respect, perseverance, responsibility.
